Our Story

liberty baptist church & Pittsburg baptist Temple

Liberty Baptist Church has been proclaiming the gospel in Pittsburg, Kansas, since 1947, when Pastor Harold Elder planted the church under the name Pittsburg Baptist Temple. From those early days, God has faithfully used devoted pastors and countless church members to build a congregation committed to His Word and His mission.
In 1998, the church adopted the name Liberty Baptist Church, reflecting the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Over the years, the church has met in several locations before making its home at our current campus.
In 2019, Corey Estep was called to serve as Lead Pastor. Since then, God has continued to bless the ministry with steady growth, new families, and lives transformed through the gospel. As He continues to provide, we are praying for the opportunity to relocate to a larger facility that will better serve our church family and our community.
While our address may change, our mission never will. We exist to glorify God by faithfully preaching His Word, making disciples of Jesus Christ, and sharing the hope of the gospel with Pittsburg and beyond.
We are grateful for God's faithfulness over the past eight decades, and we look forward with anticipation to what He will continue to do in the years ahead.
